Tell LUPC & VNC You Oppose Zone Change from Open Space to Commercial on Venice Median
There is a crucial motion on the agenda of the VNC Land Use and Planning Committee (LUPC) tomorrow tonight opposing the City’s plan to change the zoning of the Venice Median (the 3-acre parcel west of Dell and east of Pacific, between North Venice and South Venice) from OPEN SPACE to COMMERCIAL in the LA General Plan, Venice Community Plan, Certified Venice Local Coastal Program Land Use Plan, and Venice Coastal Zone Specific Plan.
This proposed zone change will lead to terrible congestion at the entrance to Venice Beach and impair our ability to cope with sea level rise and disasters. The ONLY REASON for the proposed zone change is to pave the way for construction of the Monster on the Median.
The City is attempting to kill our land use lawsuits through a new state law that exempts all homeless housing developments (and related ordinances) from CEQA review – and there are currently at least 6 homeless housing projects in the Venice pipeline – so, now more than ever, we have to fight for our community on every front.
Please send our ONE-CLICK EMAIL letting members of LUPC know you oppose the zone change and, if at all possible, attend the meeting tomorrow tonight to support the motion and LUPC Chair Alix Gucovsky:
