Earlier this month, the Venice Neighborhood Council (“VNC”) sprang into action and approved a joint motion of the Neighborhood Committee, Land Use and Planning Committee (“LUPC”), and Traffic and Parking Committee calling for a comprehensive Environmental Impact Report (“EIR”) in connection with the Reese Davidson Community (a.k.a. the “Monster on the Median”) and identifying a detailed list of specific issues that must be addressed. Fight Back, Venice! has similarly submitted a lengthy letter to the City demanding a thorough EIR and calling out several areas of special concern. You can read our letter here.

These are our first concrete steps as a community in fighting back against this ill-conceived and grossly oversized project.

I write as a concerned Venice resident to inform you that I support the demands submitted by the Venice Neighborhood Council (“VNC”) and Fight Back, Venice! for an exhaustive Environmental Impact Report (“EIR”) in connection with the proposed Reese Davidson Community.

The Reese Davidson Community would be the largest and most complex development in the modern history of Venice and the proposed building site — the so-called Venice Median — is one of the most important undeveloped parcels in all of Los Angeles.

No stone should be left unturned in analyzing the impacts of this massive and unprecedented project on our small community.
